Home2Grow’s license with the Ministry of Education means that we are able to offer some of the same financial support and services we offer to educators, to families who may choose to have their children looked after by someone they already know and trust. When a family member or friend cares for children at home, they may be eligible to receive subsidies, resources and support from our coordinators when they are enrolled with us as an educator. Terms and conditions apply.

A home educator works from their own home and is self-employed; sub-contracted by Home2Grow Childcare. Our educators register with IRD as self-employed and are responsible for paying their own taxes and ACC levies by filing a tax return at the end of the financial year (31st March). Educators can also claim expenses by keeping receipts or using the IRD Standard calculation which also makes allowances for property and administration costs. They are also able to determine their own income as they are able to negotiate their own hourly rate.
The average fee for a home educator is $5 – $10 /hr, per child.
Being self-employed as a home educator through Home2Grow Childcare gives our educators the flexibility to choose their own hours as we are licensed to provide care 24/7. They are able to take advantage of tax benefits with a portion of the hourly rate per child being non-taxable. Home educators are provided with information and support regarding this during the registration process and as you need it throughout the financial year
We believe that the Auckland based Home2Grow Childcare experience gives your child the best possible start in life. You don’t have to take our word for it though, read the childcare testimonials from happy parents, children and educators to find out more.

I have found Home2Grow to be the perfect place for my daughter. She loves going there and I know her educator really cares about her. Home2Grow allowed me to be flexible with childcare hours, which suits my husband’s job and mine. The small ratio of carer to child means less sick days and she has had many wonderful trips out with them. Having her in someone’s home means she keeps the same routine at both places and has her own space, bed and sense of belonging.

Julie is a perfect balance between being firm and loving. She lays down the rules in the most amazing and positive way. For Julie looking after kids is not a job, it is her passion. All the kids under her care are treated equally and the best part is that they are treated as one of her own.

I would surely recommend Rita to anyone who would like to enrol their kids in home based daycare. Sidharth made good progress during his time with her. Everyday I used to get updates and the feedback was really helpful for me to monitor and improve my approach too.
